Nick Aguilar · Lima, Peru
I'm a software engineer from Lima and Head of DevOps at iDBI. I work across cloud infrastructure, delivery pipelines, observability, and backend development. I like systems that are easy to follow and the quiet work that keeps a product running in practice.
I work on the technical foundations that let a product keep working.
Right now
This personal publishing platform on Cloudflare Workers. I'm keeping the stack small and built for the long haul.
Edge architecture, dependable API design, and the choices that make a system easier to run.
Notes about the engineering decisions that deserve to be written down.
Experience
Led the company's infrastructure migration from AWS to Azure. I run production on Kubernetes and Linux, CI/CD in Jenkins and TeamCity, and a central observability platform built on Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, and OpenTelemetry.
Moved services to a multi-account AWS architecture, introduced Terraform and HashiCorp Vault, and designed a company-wide OAuth2/OpenID Connect authentication system in Go and Next.js.
Built backend features in PHP, Go, and Python, and mentored junior developers.
Backend systems in PHP and Laravel on AWS, with a focus on data integrity and stability.
Built the first version of the product with Laravel and Vue.js and led the technical team.
Including recognition at the 2017-1 Vivir la Ingeniería fair.
What I do
Notes from the work
Four roles at one company, and a gradual move from writing services to running the platform underneath them.
A cloud migration is mostly an inventory problem. This is the approach I would follow again.
